Entertainment Is Different In Southern West Virginia

You won’t find the same old thing when you go out for an evening here in the southern West Virginia mountains. We add a bit of hometown flavor and old time charm.

For instance, when’s the last time you’ve been to a drive in theater? We’ve got one here. What about a performance in a natural amphitheater? Ours is an intimate, outdoor setting that you’re sure to remember.

Here’s some more information on entertainment when you come for a visit in the Three River Region of West Virginia…

Pipestem Amphitheater

Pipestem State Park's Amphitheater is great place to spend Saturday Night in the Summer. (other nights as scheduled) The Amphitheater's Summer Performance Series begins in late May and continues through the summer. Every Saturday night you can enjoy live entertainment. Performances range from Country Music Sensations, to Beach Music Bands to good old Rock - n - Roll!

Shows normally begin at 8pm and end at approximately 10pm. The amphitheater has 525 seats, bring your blankets for great seats on the hillside. No alchohol is allowed but coolers are permitted (subject to inspection). Refreshments are available. Tickets may be purchased daily from 12:30 to 4:30 at Pipestem State Park's Nature Center or by calling 304-466-1800 ext 377. View our online calendar for performance information.

Events range from free to $10 per person. Special events are scheduled on additional nights.

Drive-In Theater

Nostalgia and ambience hold drive-in theaters close to the hearts of movie-goers. This Old time theatre shows popular new releases and family movies. Two different movies play per night for just the one admission price.

Cars and trucks with singles, couples and families pile in on weekends to enjoy the Pipestem Drive-In located off of Rt 20, between Speedway and Pipestem Resort State Park.

Although located in neighboring Mercer County, Pipestem Drive-In is just minutes from Pipestem Resort State Park and many other Summers County attractions.

Open April 15 - October 15 with movies showing Friday- Sunday. Gates open at 7:30pm, first movie starts at dark. Admission is $6 for ages 11 and up, ages 4-10 is $2 and ages 3 and under are free. Sunday is carload night - just $12 per vehicle!

Drive in is located on WV Rt 20 in the small unincorporated community of Speedway.
