The Amazing New River Gorge

The New River Gorge National Park in southern West Virginia is an incredible destination. And here in the Three Rivers Region, we’re the gateway.

Opening up to over 70,000 acres of protected wilderness and more than 50 miles of river corridor, the front door of the New River Gorge opens up just below the historic railroad town of Hinton.

  • The Hinton Boaters access point, as well as plenty of fishing spots right on the river banks, walking distance from town.
  • Brooks Falls, a scenic shoals that’s as good for photographs as it is for picnics. More boater access here.
  • Sandstone Falls, the famous fracture of the New River, complete with overlook and the new, interactive Sandstone Visitors Center.
